Bolton-le-Sands Horticultural Society held its 75th Annual Autumn Show earlier this month, experiencing a significant surge in entries.
The event, held at Bolton-le-Sands Community Centre on October 19, saw a rise in entries in both the Open and Local Flowers sections, with houseplants particularly popular among exhibitors.
Andrew Nightingale, who travelled from Westhoughton, won the T W Bellis Trophy for the best vase of chrysanthemums, while Bill Howarth from Southport took home the Blue Ribbon for his exhibit of five tomatoes.
The Homecraft and Photography sections also saw a notable increase in entries, with many first-time participants.
The sunny afternoon attracted a large number of visitors to the show, many of whom stayed for the end-of-show auction of produce.
Conducted by Social Secretary Steve Slater, the auction raised £51, which will be donated to the society's charity of the year, Growing Well.
The society thanked volunteers and committee members for their efforts in organising the event.
Special mention was given to the Women's Institute volunteers, who managed the kitchen and served tea and cakes throughout the afternoon.
The society's final event of the year will be a talk on Japanese gardens by Richard Jardine.
The talk will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 14, at the Old Boys' School on St Michael’s Lane, Bolton-le-Sands.
