A new men's group dedicated to mental health and creativity has just started in Kendal.

Space2Create is a creative arts charity that supports vulnerable adults in the local area.

Located at unit 31 at the factory on Aynam Road, the group meets up on Wednesday evenings from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.

The very first session was held on October 16.

Trustee Kevin Hankey, who is also a community artist and support worker, said: "The men's group is currently working on a range of possible creative projects from drawing and painting, to model making and printmaking.

"We are also liaising with other men's groups in the area to share ideas and hopefully work with each other to widen our reach in the community.

"Each session is a creative activity, providing a mindful, positive experience over the two hours. The sessions also involve preparing and eating a meal in S2C’s kitchen area, a positive group activity which can build on existing skills.

"Each session will consist of up to 10 people, including two mental health trained facilitators. If we get more than eight people, an additional session can be added."

The group is currently looking for more artists to contribute.
