A MAN has been sentenced for drug driving in South Cumbria whilst over 14 times a legal drug limit.
Elliot Kidd, 29, was stopped by road traffic officers in his Citroen Dispatch on the A590 at Hincaster, near Kendal on April 27 this year, South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard.
Prosector Lee Dacre said Cumbria Police officers asked Kidd to conduct a DrugWipe test at the roadside.
Court records indicate the readings came back positive for Benzoyclecgonine, the main metabolite found in cocaine, and Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the principle psychoactive constituent of cannabis.
As a result he was arrested and taken into custody where samples of his blood were sent for analysis.
Mr Dacre told the court the defendant provided lowest readings of Benzoyclecgonine at 729 ug/L, and Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol at 9.0 ug/L.
The legal ‘zero tolerance’ limits for the two drugs are 50 ug/L and 2.0 ug/L.
Kidd admitted two counts of drug driving at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on October 16.
Magistrates sentenced Kidd, of Worcester Road, Blackpool, to a 12-month community order with one requirement of completing 80 hours of unpaid work.
He was also banned from driving for 19 months and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.
