A MAN has been banned from the road after he was caught driving a car without the owner’s consent on the A65 while unlicensed and uninsured.
George Fletcher, of Romney Gardens, Kendal, pleaded guilty to the three offences at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on October 14.
The charges indicate that the 24-year-old defendant took a red Vauxhall Corsa from Kendal on April 28 2024 without the consent of its owner.
Fletcher was stopped by road traffic officers on the A65 at Crooklands where he was also found to have driven the vehicle without a valid licence or third-party insurance.
He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with one requirement of completing 60 hours of unpaid work.
Magistrates also disqualified Fletcher from driving for a period of six months and ordered that he pay £85 in court costs, as well as a £114 surcharge.
