CUMBRIA's award-winning and carbon-neutral holiday park is set to be featured in an upcoming episode of the popular BBC show Escape to the Country.

Ullswater's The Quiet Site will be featured as a highlight of Cumbria as the show seeks to pair prospective buyers looking to leave the city life behind in search of their dream home in the countryside.

The campsite, which was named AA Campsite of the Year 2024,  offers glamping, camping and luxury cottages whilst operating under a carbon-neutral sphere.

Owner Daniel Holder, from London, bought the holiday park over 20 years ago, bringing with him his experience as an electrical engineer with a specialism in lithium battery design to the site's eco-forefront.

In 2021, Daniel introduced 15 unique 'Gingerbread Houses'—glamping huts heated by a remote ground source heat pump that generates more energy than it consumes.

Also grabbing the attention of the show's film crew was the site's Hobbit Holes, made up of 15 large underground living spaces, with views over the Ullswater Valley, designed to be energy-efficient, secure, and 'virtually invisible' in the Lake District.

"We're hoping that the Cumbrian episode will be out just after the new year," Daniel said.

“They were quite interested in the Gingerbreads and the energy-positivity of them. They were here for about three hours filming and chatting.

"They took footage of the Hobbit Holes, Gingerbread houses and glamping cabins, so we'll have to see what comes out in the episode."

Outside of numerous news appearances, this is not the first time the Quiet Site has been on TV.

The site's bar served as a location in the sitcom Home from Home, hosting the likes of  Paul Barber, from The Full Monty and Only Fools and Horses, Elaine Page, and Johnny Vegas.
