THE lower level of the Westmorland Shopping Centre car park in Kendal has been closed 'with immediate effect' after an issue was discovered with concrete on a ramp.
It is expected that the area could be closed for between eight and 10 weeks for specialist repairs.
A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness Council said: "We recognise that the closure will cause some disruption to car park users, especially those who regularly park in the affected areas, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The concrete issue, on the ramp between level one and two of the car park, was discovered during a routine annual inspection.
The spokesperson added: "Only a small part of the car park is impacted and the rest of the car park is open as usual. We hope people understand that this closure and remedial work is required to ensure the safety of all car park users.’’
