SOUTH Lakes Police are warning members of the public to check their vehicle documents are up to date following a recent surge in the number of seizures.
It comes after patrol officers in Ambleside seized a vehicle for driving without any insurance on October 6 (Sunday) contrary to section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
Road traffic officers seized another vehicle this morning in Windermere for VEL issues.
A spokesperson for South Lakes Police said: “We can’t and won’t turn a blind eye to people who don't have a driving licence, don't insure their vehicles and don't pay their road tax/VEL.
“We know how frustrating this is to everyone who does and particularly those hit by uninsured and unlicensed drivers.
“Please take a few minutes to check that your vehicle documents are up to date and that any monthly payments have been made.
“If you have a concern about a person driving without a licence, without insurance, under the influence of drink or drugs then please let us know or contact #crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online.”
