More than £600 has been raised at a charity's latest fundraising day in Kendal.
Wheels for All, which has 28 locations across the country, enables disabled children and adults to take part in cycling activities, using adapted bikes including handcycles, trikes, and wheelchair transporters.
The event was sponsored by live-in care provider Promedica24.
This latest fundraising activity saw 18 riders and 15 parents, carers, and supporters taking part in a sponsored cycle ride in support of the charity.
The rides started and finished at Halton Station and took place across the Lune Valley cycleway, with participants having three routes to choose from: a 5km ride to Skerton Weir, a 10km ride to Lancaster Millenium Bridge, or a 25km ride to Glasson Dock.
On the routes, participants had the chance to help themselves to the refreshment stations, and to the catering van which was on site to provide hot food and drinks.
Participants were taken on led rides by Wheels for All’s team of experienced volunteers.
Businessman and regional partner at Promedica24, Gary Derbyshire, who has been actively supporting Wheels for All Kendal for two years, also volunteered and supported the event.
Promedica24 provides flexible live-in care services to allow people to maintain their independence in their homes.
It regularly supports charities in the areas where it operates.
Mr Derbyshire said: "All of us at Promedica24 are proud to support Wheels for All in their mission to make cycling accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.
"We believe in giving back to the communities we serve, and this event is a perfect example of how collaboration can make a real difference in people’s lives.
"It was great to see everyone’s smiling faces enjoying their bike rides.
"It’s inspiring to see the community come together for such a fantastic cause, and we’re delighted to be part of an event that brings joy and empowerment to so many.
"I am proud to support Wheels for All both as a volunteer and as a sponsor through Promedica24."
Promedica24 North Yorkshire, Lancashire and South Cumbria sponsored Dementia Forward's Winter Ball last year, which raised more than £7,000, and are sponsoring the ball this year, too.
They also sponsored Supporting Older People’s Summer Ball this year, which raised more than £14,000.
Stuart Lockton, coordinator at Wheels for All Kendal, said: "This fundraising day was a wonderful success, with participants, carers, and volunteers all coming together to make it special.
"The support from Promedica24 has been invaluable, and it’s thanks to partnerships like this that we can continue offering inclusive cycling opportunities to disabled children and adults in our community."
