TWO friends from Furness will soon shoot their 'passion project' - a horror thriller called 'Silver Water.'

Jamie Holden, 30, and Samuel McEwan, 33, both come from Dalton and have set up independent film production company Blackfriar Pictures. It was written and directed by Jamie and produced by Samuel. Both will star in the short film.

The film is set in the Lake District but is shot entirely at Claughton Hall in Lancashire to reduce production costs. The spooky hall is in The Forest of Bowland, a short drive from the outskirts of Lancaster.

Samuel said: "Silver Water is a passion project for both of us and we're thrilled to be shooting in a place that means so much to Jamie and myself.

"The stunning landscapes combined with the eerie legend of the Lady in the Lake create the perfect backdrop for this story."

Shooting will take place next week. The film will be 40-minutes long and released early next year. The duo are planning to get it showcased at UK and international film festivals.

The pair have starred in background roles in TV dramas such as Coronation Street, Brassic, Happy Valley and Emmerdale. They both moved away from Dalton to Manchester.

"Over the years I have done a bit of writing, a bit of acting," Jamie said. "We wrote this script in the back end of last year. It has been a couple of years in the making."

The pair aim to get everything filmed in six days and to keep it to one location. Post-production will begin immediately afterward to get the film wrapped.

They will work with a team of 10 crew members, all from the north west.

Silver Water is not the only horror movie to be shot in the region. Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy was recently spotted in Ennerdale filming 28 Years Later, a follow-up to zombie thrillers 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later.

The film is being directed in Danny Boyle and is scheduled to be released in June next year in the UK.
