CUMBRIA Police arrested a Kendal man for a number of shoplifting offences yesterday in Kendal Town Centre.
The 28-year-old had hoped to blend into the crowds but unfortunately failed to consider the eagle eyed observation skills of the local PCSO who spotted him with ease.
Officers confirmed the man attempted to run from the scene but was soon detained by the PCSO who was hot on his heels.
In custody, the man was charged and remanded.
He appeared before South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court this morning where he pleaded guilty to the offences.
Magistrates will sentence the defendant next week.
A police spokesperson said: “Retail crime is a blight on our streets and we want to recognise the brilliant work that retailers undertake with their vigilance and commitment to working with us to combat this type of crime.”
