A four-star Lake District hotel could be in line for a refurbishment and expansion.
The Inn Collection group has submitted a planning application to the Lake District National Park Authority to refurbish the Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere.
According to plans, the proposed development involves knocking down existing buildings attached to the kitchen areas and constructing an extension to form a cellar with a service room and additional guest rooms.
The proposed works also include the removal of the ground floor function room and swimming pool to reconfigure into additional guest rooms and re-modelling the staff accommodation area to improve facilities.
The hotel chain has also applied to provide more space for outdoor dining.
The proposals will create more jobs, from 20 full-time and 9 part-time employees, to 35 full-time and 15 part-time employees, said the plans.
