A primary school teacher is getting ready to run a staggering 57 miles over 48 hours in memory of his mum.

Nathaniel Norris plans to run the circumference of the Isle of Arran in just two days.

The Year Six teacher at St Martin and St Mary Church of England Primary School on Prince’s Road, Windermere, is completing the distance to raise money for Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Services who supported his mum at the end of her life.

Nathaniel said: “Through every challenge, setback, and moment of uncertainty, Mum fought with unparalleled bravery and determination. She faced each day with a strength that inspired everyone around her, leading by example and showing us all what it truly means to never give up."

In the final weeks of her life, she was cared for by Trinity Hospice in Blackpool.

“Their care and compassion provided comfort not only to Mum but also to our entire family,” Nathaniel said.

“My family and I will forever be grateful for the kindness and dignity they extended to her in those last moments.”

His mum had a special love for the Isle of Arran, which was her place of adventure, and the backdrop to an endless number of family memories.

To honour her memory and give back to the incredible people at Trinity Hospice, Nathaniel has decided to run a gruelling route more than two marathons in length.

He will set off running around the island off the west coast of Scotland on Saturday October 26.

He said: “This run is not just a physical challenge but a tribute to the strength and resilience Mum showed throughout her life.

“Every mile I run will be for her and countless others who find solace in the care of Trinity Hospice. My goal is to raise funds that will allow this charity to continue providing the same compassionate care to other families facing the most difficult times of their lives.”

Nathaniel said: “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most, just as Trinity Hospice made a difference in ours.

“Thank you for being a part of this mission, and for helping me honour my mum in the way she deserves.”
