A BODY has been found by police which is believed to be a man who has been missing since August 23.
Lancashire Police were called to a section of the Lancaster Canal towpath at Capernwray near Carnforth just after 10am today (September 11) after a body was found in nearby undergrowth.
While no formal identification has yet taken place, the police believe it to be Morecambe man Carl Joy.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are very much with them at this sad and distressing time," a spokesperson said.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being passed to the coroner.
"As part of our investigation, if anyone saw a man on the tow path – Carl is believed to have been on a bicycle – please contact 101, quoting log 1472 of 23 August 2024," the spokesperson added.
