AN award-winning baby milk producer have announced a nationwide shortage in two of their most popular powder formulas due to an increase in demand.

Kendamil, which has been manufactured by Kendal Nutricare on Mint Bridge Road in Kendal since 2015, are struggling to cope with the supply of their Classic and Organic powder formulas.

The company is the only business to produce British made infant formula.

Company directors have paused new orders on their website and added extra shifts in order to grow production.  .

Will McMahon, Co-founder at Kendamil, said they were also continuing to fulfil their subscriptions.

Addressing the current situation on social media, he said: “Behind the scenes, we are also working on big projects to expand our factory in Kendal.

“Despite these efforts and regular deliveries to retailers, we know it hasn’t been enough to ensure consistent availability across the country.

"We know how stressful and difficult this is for families. Having your trust is our biggest privilege and letting any parent down is the last thing we are here to do. We read your comments every day and truly feel your concerns.

“While we’re making progress and expect to have a solution within the next three months, we also know that doesn’t ease the immediate worry for parents counting on a steady supply today.

“I understand this is not going to come soon enough for some parents. We know some of you might have to take difficult decisions in terms of your feeding journey

“We’re deeply sorry to all families affected. Please know we’re doing everything we can to improve the situation and share the better news soon.

"We are working around the clock and we hope to share a more positive update with you really soon.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
