Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF) is returning to Windermere Jetty Museum for the third year running.

Slated for September 28 to 29, the museum will offer free comic-themed workshops and activities specifically for families.

Each year, over 300 children aged 12 and under, along with their families, immerse themselves in the world of comics.

Guided by industry-great comic artists, these free workshops are known for sparking creativity within young minds.

To supplement the workshops, a range of activities including badge-making, face-painting, and cosplaying will be on offer, promising an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Marc Jackson and the creative team from Room for Comics and Macc-Pow! will be leading the workshops.

He is renowned for his work with BEANO, Aces Weekly, The Phoenix, to name a few, and will teach kids different drawing styles and enable them to create interesting stories under the guidance of seasoned artists.

Additionally, visitors can marvel - pardon the pun - at a special exhibition that celebrates 60 years of Doctor Who comics.

This unique display features comics with every major Doctor, the very first Doctor Who strip from 1964, newly designed monsters, and live Daleks roaming the museum.

Luis Martins, Lakeland Arts interim CEO, said: "Lakes International Comic Art Festival is an exciting event for people to engage with some of the biggest names in the comic art industry.

"We're honoured to be hosting Little LICAF at Windermere Jetty Museum for the third year in a row.

"The museum is a place for everyone to experience culture, engage their creativity, and discover stories.

"Little LICAF will give families the opportunity to create their own stories inspired by wonderful workshops and activities.

"We look forward to welcoming the community and making this festival the best year yet!"

Little LICAF will run from 10am to 4.30pm, with free entry to the Doctor Who exhibition and workshops.

Although pre-booking isn't available, workshop places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The festival doesn't require a ticket purchase and children are welcome, providing they're accompanied by an adult.

Additional Lakeland Arts charges will apply to access museum displays.

However, members and annual pass holders can enjoy year-round benefits.

Heritage boat trips can be booked on the day.
