A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving on a Cumbrian road.

South Lakes Police officers on mobile patrol did a stop check of a vehicle at Prizet on the A591 this afternoon (September 2)

Police said a routine breath test was conducted on the driver which provided a positive reading for alcohol.

The force said the driver has been arrested and provided 'evidential breath readings' in custody.

A spokesperson for South Lakes Police said: "When sober he will be charged to South Cumbria Magistrates Court and will almost certainly be disqualified from driving for at least 12 months.

"It is never worth the risk of drinking and then driving. Thankfully this driver was caught before anyone came to harm."
