Adam Peaty teaches Ulverston kids the art of swimming

Ulverston Otters, a competitive swimming club, were fortunate enough to win 10 spots at the Olympian's AP Race Clinic at Sunderland Aquatic Centre on Monday, August 26.

The special day allowed the lucky group members to get into the pool and learn from the eight-time World Champion, sixteen-time European Champion and four-time Commonwealth Champion.

One of the coaches said: "The club was lucky enough to win and had a lucky dip to select the 10 swimmers, and then we were invited to attend the clinic for a day of swimming, gym sessions and sports psychology.

"The parents did a session on supporting their swimmer and the day finished with Adam talking about his journey, a question and answer session, with time also made for photos and autographs."

The eventual winners from the club's draw who got to meet and learn from Peaty were Lily Broadfoot, Jennifer Robinson, Phillipa Robinson, Izzy Tyson, Lillie-Rae Jones, Matthew Foley, Luna Roberts, Callum Cowen, Chloe Cowsill, and Phoebe Hunter.

Whilst the 10 kids involved were given the spaces for free, their parents were encouraged to donate £20 to go towards the club's funds.

This was an initiative that was also supported by Peaty himself on the day, who recently added a silver medal to his collection at the Paris Olympics in the 100m Breastroke.

"Adam also very kindly donated a signed swim cap to the club to raffle and raise funds for a warm weather training camp we are running in Lanzarote in February next year," said the spokesman.

"The swimmers all commented on what a brilliant day they had, the highlight obviously being coached by the greatest sprint breaststroke swimmer of all time.

"They were able to see all of Adam’s Olympic medals and hopefully be inspired to achieve great things."
