A couple got more than they planned for when they accidentally brought home a frog from Kendal Calling.

Karen David, 48, from Swansea, South Wales and James Mann, 52, from Tyldesley, Manchester attended the music festival over the weekend of August 1 to August 4.

Karen said: "It was a fantastic weekend. We packed up on the Monday morning and we left for partner's home who lives in Tyldesley.

"We drove to my place in Swansea the next day and we actually didn't sort our stuff out until the Saturday.

"When we started to unpack I thought 'why is my tent moving?'' when all of a sudden I spotted him in the mesh.

"I unzipped it and then he crawled out. He had no food and no water for the best part of a week.

"When we packed, we piled everything on top of the tent too - all of the equipment, even a mattress,

"We'd left everything in the car in the warm weather - I'm surprised he survived."

At first, the couple was going to call him Frank however they chose Ken in honour of Kendal Calling.

"When we first got Ken out, we checked him over and he was probably really dehydrated," Karen said.

"However he's come on leaps and bounds and is living his best life as 'King of the Frogs' now.

"My wildlife pond basically has plants and insects in to attract the local wildlife so it's just him in the pond - he has no competition."

In some ways, Karen says she was not surprised her festival experience came to a ribbiting end.

She added: "I'm not sure if it was a combination of the hot and wet weather but there were a lot of frogs at Kendal Calling.

"When I posted what had happened on Facebook so many other people had spotted them - with one woman finding one on her toilet.

"She realised after my post that she must have brought one back from Kendal Calling.

"We think Ken may have been bored of the rainy north and fancied some sunny south Wales weather for a change."

Karen's next stop is to buy Ken a little house for the pond.
