A WOMAN died after a two-vehicle crash in South Cumbria while travelling by motorbike with her husband to her 'favourite place'.

Beverley Hainsworth, a 55-year-old school teaching assistant, was riding pillion on a Kawasaki motorcycle at the time of the tragedy, Cockermouth Coroners’ Court heard.

The crash occurred at around 2.20pm on July 28.

As she opened an inquest, Ms Margaret Taylor, one of Cumbria’s assistant coroners, gave some brief details about the collision.

Mrs Hainsworth and her husband were travelling along the A684 towards Kendal and had crossed the M6 at Junction 37.

There was then a collision as an Audi A3 entered the A684 from an M6 exit slip road, the hearing heard.

“Mrs Hainsworth was thrown some distance from the collision and sustained fatal injuries,” said Ms Taylor. “She was pronounced dead at the scene of the road traffic collision.”

Ms Taylor said the coroners’ court was awaiting the outcome of a police investigation into the incident.

As a result, Ms Taylor suspended the inquest pending further inquiries by the police.

A moving tribute was issued through police by relatives of Mrs Hainsworth. The mum-of-two, who lived in Pickering, North Yorkshire, had been heading with her husband to the Lake District.

"Bev, always selfless and happy to help anyone, was sadly taken too soon,” said her family. “She was out doing something she loved with dad on the bike going to her favourite place — Keswick. We will miss her every day and hope she is somewhere nice with people she loves."

Relatives had thanked members of the public who had helped and stayed with Mrs Hainsworth following the crash, along with the emergency services and hospital staff.

Cumbria police launched a public appeal in the wake of the collision, asking anyone with information to get in touch.
