The Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland home care group have raised an impressive £2400 for the Alzheimer’s Society in a sponsored charity walk.

The team made up of care experts, their families, and relatives of those they support, united to walk 12km across Morecambe Bay on one of the hottest days of the year.

This venture is part of a mission to raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland helped coordinate this event with the King's Guide, covering all of the entry fees, and providing refreshments for all participants.

The generosity of the team supports the Alzheimer's Society in their mission to stand by every person impacted by dementia and fund crucial research.

This event was particularly special as it marked the 10th anniversary of Bluebird Care providing services throughout Lancaster and South Lakeland.

A representative from Alzheimer’s Society, Zena Jones, expressed her gratitude saying: "The £2,400 raised by the Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland team will make a significant difference in our work and for people affected by dementia – thank you to everyone who took part."

The owner of Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland, Claire Evans added: "This was a really special day for us all.

"Creating more dementia-friendly communities, and funding research into effective drug treatments, is a cause very close to all our hearts – for both professional and personal reasons.

"We’re so proud to have been able to contribute towards Alzheimer’s Society’s vital work in this area."

As a part of their 10-year celebration, the care team will host a community tea party at the Bluebird Care headquarters in mid-October.

They plan to invite customers, their relatives, and members of the local community.
