The Lakeland Maze Farm Park near Kendal is expecting a surge in visitors after King Charles' recent comments about his love of mazes.

The park, located in Sedgwick, opened its annual maize maze on July 17.

It predicts comments made by King Charles, regarding his fondness for mazes, will significantly increase their visits in the weeks ahead.

King Charles recently launched his third royal maze at Sandringham, following the constructions at Balmoral in 2023 and Dumfries House in 2016.

It's believed his passion for mazes was ignited by his childhood experiences at an earlier maze in Sandringham.

King Charles has been quoted as saying: "There’s nothing more enjoyable than getting lost in a maze" and "I’m rather indulging in my childhood fantasy of mazes."

This year's theme at the Lakeland Maze Farm Park is a sailing boat, promising up to 90 minutes of engaging adventure for its visitors in the seven-foot-high maize crop.

Assistance is available for those who struggle with completing the labyrinth maze.

A smaller, less intricate maze patterned to resemble a medal is also available, designed for those who prefer a more concise experience.

This mini maze can be completed within half an hour.

The late Queen Elizabeth reportedly found amusement in King Charles' fondness for mazes.

To commemorate her in her Jubilee year in 2022, the Lakeland Maze Farm Park crafted a maze depicting the late monarch, even catching an RAF fighter jet's attention, which tipped its wings as a tribute.

The Lakeland Maze Farm Park offers various attractions, including a new 'Cresta Run' toboggan ride along with the 'Super Mega Ride n Slide.'

The owner of the Lakeland Maze Farm Park, Graham Wadsworth, said: "We were delighted to read of the King’s true passion for mazes, particularly as we believe this is an experience that has passed many people by.

"Many of us would never have experienced a maze during our own childhood, as the arrival of maize mazes has really only been something that has occurred over the last 19 years or so.

"The King’s words probably demonstrate that you are never too old to get lost in a maze for the first time and that the whole experience is tremendous fun for the kids.

"He even hopes that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will share his passion for mazes.

"As a result of the King sharing his love of mazes so openly, we expect to see many more maze first-timers this year."

The maze will operate daily from 10am to 6pm until September 3 and then at weekends only until the daily opening resumes during the October half-term.
