More than 260 extra hours of police patrols in anti-social behaviour (ASB) hotspots took place in July as part of Cumbria Police’s crackdown.

The month saw 261 hours of extra ASB hotspot patrols, as well as 49 stop searches and 12 arrests as part of Operation Enhance.

Operation Enhance is a countywide crackdown on serious violence and antisocial behaviour targeted at hotspot areas.

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner secured an additional £1m of extra funding from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund to target ASB. and serious violence in hotspot areas across the county.

Extra police patrols are in place across areas identified as hotspots for anti-social behaviour and/or serious violence across the county.

These areas include areas of Carlisle, Barrow, Workington, Whitehaven, Kendal, Penrith, Maryport, Cleator Moor, Ulverston and Bowness-on-Windermere.

These high visibility patrols also target those who commit serious violence in these areas too – including arson, robbery and violence including sexual assaults.
