AN XL Bully owner has been jailed after he admitted his dog was dangerously out of control when it caused injury to a person in Barrow.
Jordan Barnes was sentenced to 18 months at Burnley Crown Court by His Honour Judge Andrew Jeffries KC.
The 30-year-old, of Rydal Road, Ulverston, received a six-month prison sentence after the incident on Lord Street on March 15 this year.
Barnes received an additional 12-month sentence for being in breach of a previously imposed suspended sentence.
Judge Jeffries KC imposed additional concurrent sentences on Barnes after he pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to charges of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress towards the same complainant of the dangerous dog attack.
He also received another concurrent sentence for an assault on PC Massey, who was acting in the exercise of his functions as an emergency worker on December 11 last year.
As part of the dangerous dog sentencing, Barnes was prohibited from keeping or owning dogs for five years.
Judge Jeffries KC did not order for the dog to be destroyed.
