Kendal Concert Band travelled to Rinteln in Germany to take part in the Altstadtfest at Kendal’s twin town.
Marking their 60th anniversary year, it was the sixth time the Band had attended the festival.
Welcomed warmly by Rinteln’s Mayor, Andrea Lange, the Band, under the direction of Helen Robertson, played a varied programme of music at locations around the town.
There was also a performance in front of the Town Hall in the nearby town of Hamelin which saw an appearance from the Pied Piper and was attended by Cllr Jonathan Cornthwaite, Mayor of Kendal.
The trip, planned many months in advance, was organised by veteran band member John Lowther. The group of around 40 travelled by luxury coach provided by Bibby’s of Ingleton - although two of the party cycled from Europoort in Rotterdam the 240 miles to Rinteln.
Chair of Kendal Concert Band, Pat Borrowdale, said: “The trip has been a huge success. It was a very special experience for Band members to participate in the Altstadtfest and to be made to feel so welcome by people in our twin town.”
