THE weekend marked the visit of Kendal's twinning association to its twin town in Germany.
On Friday, August 9 a group from Kendal's twinning association, including the Mayor of Kendal Jonathan Cornthwaite, visited Rinteln at the request of the Mayor of Rinteln Andrea Lange for Rinteln's summer Altstadt Festival.
A memorial stone from the Kendal association to commemorate 30 years of twinning was unveiled in the Rinteln Friendship Garden.
The group also attended various concerts by the Kendal Concert Band and they were at the opening ceremony of the Old Town festival.
Jim Dunlop, vice-chair of the Kendal Rinteln Association, said: "It is now 32 years since the association with Rinteln began and bonds of friendship are as strong as ever."
