Agricultural shows are an important part of Cumbria's rural tradition and provide a much needed boost for the county's economy. 

During the Covid-19 pandemic, they were sorely missed with many returning after a three-year-hiatus to record crowds. 

This year saw many shows kick off in June, from Ulverston to Penrith, showcasing some of the best of what the Cumbrian countryside has to offer.

This has included livestock classes, horticultural displays and much entertainment in the form of traditional Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling, sports competitions, fairground rides and market stalls.

Though we are now half way through the summer, there are over 20 shows of varying sizes to still attend this year, including the famous Westmorland County Show. 

Founded in 1799, this is the Glastonbury of agricultural shows and is one of the biggest in the UK.

23 agricultural are yet to take place in Cumbria which will run into the autumn.

As well as their economic boost for the county, they are also hailed for being an annual meet-up for friends and acquaintances in the rural sector.
