L'Enclume has been nominated for Restaurant of the Year and Best Luxury Restaurant at the prestigious British Restaurant Awards (BRA).

The BRA announced its list of nominees in categories such as Best Chef, Best New Restaurant and Best Takeaway Restaurant.

Cartmel's L'Enclume is the brainchild of well-respected chef Simon Rogan, who boasts three Michelin stars, the only eatery in the north of England to hold such an achievement.

The sixth annual awards ceremony is set to take place on August 28 at the Crown London Hotel.

It will be a night of culinary celebration, shining a spotlight on the very best restaurants and eateries Britain has to offer.

This includes Restaurant of the Year, with other notable nominees such as Peter Street Kitchen in Manchester and Happy Bar and Grill in London.

L'Enclume is also nominated for Best Luxury Restaurant and is joined by The Ritz in London, Roots York and Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck in Bray.

Run by chef Simon Rogan, the establishment opened in 2002 with a focus on hyperlocal and seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant currently holds three Michelin stars, the top spot in the Good Food Guide and five AA Rosettes.

On his food, Simon said: "Ingredients that change with the seasons inspire my menu development and ensure a truly traceable dining experience reflecting my farm-to-table philosophy.

"Farm-to-fork has always been at the heart of what we do and that continues to this day.

"Every dish on the menu begins life at Our Farm where we learn from our Head Grower what is at its peak.

"Or an ingredient from the wild or one of our fantastic local producers. Those ingredients are then discussed with the senior team and developed in Aulis, our development kitchen. The chosen dishes then make their way onto the menu at L’Enclume."
