A COUPLE with the 'same sense of humour' proved that age is just a number in a two of us wedding.
Pauline Thomas, now Davies, 68, married Wilfred Jones Davies, 77.
The pair, who are now retired, knew each other from work 'years ago' and only got together at the end of 2021.
"It was a mutual attraction both have the same likes and dislikes and also the same sense of humour," they said.
They got engaged on December 8 whilst on holiday in Keswick when going for a meal at the Thyme Bistro where Wilf surprised Pauline by proposing and giving her an engagement ring.
The lovebirds got married at Storrs Hall in Windermere on July 11 in a two-of-us marriage.
"We came up to the Lakes last February to view venues and decided straight away on Storrs Hall," they said.
"We loved the inside and the surroundings especially as it was on Windermere."
They woke up to find that the weather was 'kind to them' as the day before was pouring rain.
Pauline met the photographer Tiree Dawson first when she came to her room and helped her to relax as the nerves had 'set in' and Wilf was already downstairs waiting.
She was escorted downstairs by Tiree and Julia, their wedding planner.
The couple said: "The ceremony took place in the study an elegant room. We had chosen our own music to be played during the ceremony. We had two lady registrars who were wonderful and made the ceremony special. We had two hotel staff as witnesses one was Julia our wedding planner.
"Tiree took photographs all through the ceremony and captured some lovely moments. We were able to go outside to have photographs taken which again Tiree managed to capture some beautiful shots for us to treasure from our special day. We had a lovely wedding breakfast that evening in the hotel's Bistro which was superb. All the staff were lovely and attentive."
The couple, who live in North Wales, are going on their honeymoon to Skiathos in September.
"We would love to thank Tiree Dawson for being our photographer who was the best ever. Kevin from Brackens of Bowness provided my gorgeous bouquet, Wilf's buttonhole and cluster bottles for the ceremony table along with the floral decoration for our wedding cake," said Mr and Mrs Davies.
"Our cake which was gluten-free was made by our close friends Trisha and Lee as our wedding present. We must also thank Julia our wedding planner who made the day run smoothly and ensured all our requests were adhered to. Also all the hotel staff - nothing was too much trouble."
