A coffee roaster has sponsored a junior football team by providing a new kit.

Lake District coffee roaster, John Farrer & Co, has been taking care of coffee lovers in the area for more than 200 years.

To give back to the community, they have chosen to support a football team - Kendal United’s U11 squad.

From the start of the new season, which begins on August 6, the team will sport new kits on the pitch.

The company has provided new branded football shirts, shorts, socks, and base layers for each of the players.

It has also kitted out the two team managers Wayne Bissland and Chris Ridley.

The 24/25 season will see the U11s take to the pitch in their sponsored kit for matches in the Kent Valley 9-aside League.

Their roster of 16 players will rotate in a squad of 12 for each game.

Farrer’s general manager, Rob Baines, said: "We’re delighted to be able to support a local grassroots team like Kendal United U11s.

"Each season Wayne and Chris go out of their way to ensure that talented young footballers in their team have all the equipment and kit necessary to continue their winning ways.

"For us as a local company, it’s important that we give back to the community and we hope that this sponsorship will help the U11s continue their success on the pitch."

United's U11s managers, Mr Bissland and Mr Ridley, said: "Grassroots sports relies heavily on the community and without sponsors, we wouldn’t be able to run these clubs.

"We are extremely grateful to John Farrer & Co for supporting our team this year and we are going to look extremely professional in our new kit.

"We can’t wait for the new season to start.

"Hopefully, the lads will continue their winning ways and do everyone proud in the process."
