A school in south Cumbria has discovered its latest Ofsted rating following an inspection earlier this year.
Kirkbie Kendal School on Lound Road was visited by inspectors on May 8 for an ungraded section eight evaluation.
Inspectors came to the judgement that the 'school’s overall judgement of good' was still the case following its last full inspection 10 years ago.
The report said: "Pupils, including students in the sixth form, are proud to attend this school, they value the friendships that they forge and they also appreciate the care and warmth that they receive from teachers - this helps pupils to feel safe and happy.
"Lessons are rarely interrupted by the behaviour of others - this creates a purposeful learning environment in classrooms.
"Students in the sixth form have positive attitudes towards their learning, they are motivated and keen to do well."
The inspectors stated that the school has made 'positive steps' to improve the curriculum across key stages three and four, as well as in the sixth form.
"For instance, the school has improved the modern foreign languages options offered to pupils in key stage three - this is because the school is working to provide a more ambitious curriculum for pupils across school.
"Most staff value how the school has managed their workload through this process of change."
A key focus of improvements has been on the personal needs of students in the school, with the curriculum being adapted for pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
"Through consultation with staff, the school has reshaped its behaviour management policy and practices - this has helped most staff to better support pupils who struggle to regulate their own behaviour, the report said.
"In the main, pupils are respectful and follow staff’s instructions carefully."
Despite these changes, the report admitted that the evidence gathered suggested that the 'inspection grade [from 2014] might not be as high if a graded inspection were carried out' in the present day.
The next inspection of Kirkbie Kendal School will be a graded inspection, expected to take place in the next one or two years.
