A reopened village pub has launched a new food venture.

The New Inn at Yealand, which was closed for nearly 12 months, reopened on a bed and breakfast basis in April.

The pub has now partnered with a well-known chef and business owner to serve meals for residents and visitors.

Greg Joseph, formerly of The Kings Arms in Kirkby Lonsdale, has teamed up with The Robinson Family, owners of The New Inn, to create 'The New Inn Kitchen'. At this new venture, he plans to bring back popular meals from The Kings such as 'Roasts on a Sunday'. This dish, along with others from The New Inn Kitchen menu, will be available from early September.

Initially, The New Inn Kitchen will open at the inn every Thursday through Sunday, from 5pm to 8.30pm.

The dining hours will be extended in the autumn.

The summer menu is influenced greatly by Mr Joseph's time spent in Asia and the Middle East, offering exciting and international dishes.

Speaking of his new venture, Mr Joseph said: "I’ve been lucky enough to live in Yealand Conyers for the past year and have fallen in love with the area.

"Already in the first two weeks, the kitchen is proving to be very popular and we’ve received some great feedback."

Mr Joseph also emphasised the importance of quality and affordability in his cooking style.

The Robinson family have owned the pub since 2016 after carrying out a large renovation.

Fiona Robinson said: "We’re so pleased to partner with Greg to open The New Inn Kitchen.

"Having the restaurant and bar area buzzing again with diners enjoying freshly cooked, mouthwatering food will breathe even more life back into this special village pub after a recent period of closure."

Since the 1830s, The New Inn has been part of the village, with some parts of the Grade II building dating back to around 1680.
