MORE than 100 new homes could be coming to Kendal.

Developer Charles Church Lancashire says it has exchanged contracts to purchase land allocated for housing on the edge of the town.

The proposed development could consist of around 143 homes offering a mix of one-to-five-bedroom properties.

According to the developer, the proposed development will be located on land west of High Sparrowmire off Windermere Road.

Although details are still to be finalised, the housebuilder says it anticipates 35 per cent of the homes will be delivered as affordable-rent or discount to market value.

Andrew Laing, land and planning director at Charles Church Lancashire, said: “We’re delighted to have secured this opportunity to move forward with our plans for new homes in Kendal.

“This proposal will make a significant contribution towards housing needs in Cumbria and deliver high quality new homes with significant open space for residents and the wider community to enjoy.”

According to the developer, a planning application is being prepared to submit to Westmorland and Furness Council.
