A CUMBRIA Police officer is facing dismissal over allegations of off-duty theft from Carlisle's Kingstown Asda.

'Officer A', whose name has yet to be released, is accused of 'deliberately removing price and security tags' from clothing, placing the clothing and other goods worth £237.89 in a trolley, and then exiting the supermarket 'deliberately failing to pay'.

The allegations relate to an incident on November 23, 2022.

The actions, if proven, would breach standards relating to the authority, regarding  honesty and integrity, and discreditable conduct.

The actions are said to be so serious that they could "justify dismissal" and are considered as potential gross misconduct.

The upcoming misconduct hearing will be heard at Cumbria Police headquarters in Penrith on Monday, July 29 until August 1.
