Five of Cumbria's best family-friendly parks have been highlighted as part of Love Parks Week.

In light of Love Parks Week, a tribute to green public spaces and the health benefits they offer, playground experts have highlighted the top five family-friendly parks across Cumbria that provide fun for all.

As an annual nationwide event, Love Parks Week, which this year runs from July 26 to August 4, pays homage to the essential role these outdoor areas play in improving the health and wellbeing of youngsters.

From being a safe space where children can play, make friends and explore, to providing adults and carers with opportunities to catch a breath of fresh air, the significance of parks cannot be overstated.

Playdale Playgrounds, specialists in educational play equipment, have suggested the following parks for Cumbrian family outings:

Brockhole on Windermere, Windermere

"Whether you’re seven or 70 there’s something for you to do here," said the team at Brockhole on Windermere.

Annually, more than 300,000 visitors make their way to this 'stunning' parkland, situated on the grounds of a grand stately home.

The adventure playground is a fantastic free activity for children, while the Pet Encounter provides the chance to get up close with meerkats, tortoises, and snakes for just £15.

Fell Foot Park, Ulverston

The National Trust location on the southern shore of Windermere, offers safe water activities including canoeing, paddling, and boating.

It is equipped with modern changing facilities, and if older children are adventure seekers, white-water rafting is also on offer.

Millom Park, Millom

Tucked between the coast and the Lake District National Park, Millom Park is home to an excellent playground.

It is the ideal spot for quieter outings and provides access to extensive green spaces. It is also close to the beach and has secluded countryside walks.

Lakeland Maze Farm Park, Kendal

Bursting with family fun, the Raines Hall Farm is home to Kendal’s Lakeland Maze Farm Park.

Alongside a collection of farm animals, there are trampolines, outdoor karting, and the Maize Maze, designed in the shape of a steam train, which opened on July 17.

Bad weather is no obstacle with plenty of indoor activities, including soft play and a petting barn.

Grizedale Forest, Hawkshead

Tackle the family-friendly forest trails or cycle paths, take a horse ride through the woods, and from July 23, join the 25th anniversary Gruffalo Party Trail.

There is also a sculpture trail, showcasing artworks from leading contemporary artists.

To celebrate Love Parks Week, bring a picnic, visit a park, a beach, have a game of football or a walk in the great outdoors, and continue to benefit from their green spaces, which do so much for our welfare.

Playdale Playgrounds has been established for 45 years, and they have been responsible for creating more than 25,000 playgrounds throughout Britain and internationally.
