The Lakeland Maze Farm Park, near Kendal, has introduced a sailing-themed maze in anticipation of the Olympic Games and America's Cup.

Visible from the skies above Sedgwick, this year's eight-acre maze takes the shape of a massive sailing ship, encouraging visitors to navigate its intricate paths in search of the exit.

A journey of discovery awaits, with most adventurers spending between one and a half to two and a half hours to complete the course.

Lakeland Maze Farm Park owner, Graham Wadsworth, said: "As a famous fictional sailor, Captain Barbossa, said in the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End movie, ‘for certain you have to be lost to find a place as can’t be found’.

"We believe that being lost can take a family to a happy place that they might otherwise not discover, if they don’t throw themselves into the challenge

"Getting lost is a big part of the fun."

The mini maze, shaped as a medal, offers a quicker challenge, with an estimated completion time of 15 to 30 minutes.

In addition to the mazes, the farm park has invested in a new toboggan ride - a nod to the famous Swiss Cresta Run.

Visitors can race each other down the toboggan tracks and compete to be the first to reach the bottom.

For the hot summer days, the Water Wars feature allows participants to engage in lively water battles.

The farm park offers a wide range of other activities, both indoors and outdoors.

This includes an outdoor football area and the Super Mega Ride and Slide, a 150-foot slide to be tackled on an inflatable ring.

Mr Wadsworth said: “Visitors to our maze can channel their inner Ben Ainslie and plot a course that will keep family members occupied for a fair while.

"With so much else to do, and the opportunity to buy food and drink here and enjoy our indoor or outdoor facilities, or bring a picnic, there is every opportunity to really have a full day out.

“Every year, we focus on added value and our Cresta Run is yet another example of that.

"Most parents will not hear the dreaded words, 'I’m bored', if they have kids who can enjoy other things than screentime and who like letting off steam outdoors.”

For families who wish to extend their time at the farm park, the indoor activities provide plenty of opportunities for play, from coin-operated quad bikes to giant Lego for the younger ones.

There's also the petting barn and animal demonstration area, full of goats, llamas, ferrets, and more.

The park sees daily opening hours of 10am to 6pm until September 3.

Following this is weekends-only opening and daily October half term opening.

The admission fee is £12.45 per person when booked online, with concessions for seniors and carers at £8.45.

Under-twos can enter for free.
