Ambleside, Windermere guided walks come to Lake District

Adele Mundy runs Kelker Well Roundhouse, a glamping service near Carnforth that is found on her dad's farm.

Through that business, she has come to love interacting with visitors to the area, showing them the hidden secrets that the county has to offer.

And, with that in mind, Adele has now launched free guided walks across four different spots, all perfect for exploring the fells and the rich history that Cumbria boasts.

Adele said: "The lowlands and fells offer stunning views and varied landscapes – even on a sunny weekend you may only see a few locals out and about – so these walks are perfect to gain a different perspective of the area away from the crowds.

"There is no set price - you are free to pay what you feel the tour was worth at the end of the tour, depending on how you value the experience, and what you can afford."

All walks are under two hours, accessible by public transport, and near toilets and refreshments.

"I’m not a mountain leader, blue badge guide, a flora or fauna expert, or a historian," Adele added. 

"I’m just a local who loves the area, enjoys meeting new people, who would love to show you some of my favourite places. 

"My walks are relaxed fell walks with the aim of giving you a local’s perspective of this wonderful area."

One of the tours will explore Lily Tarn in Ambleside, providing idyllic views of the town, Windermere and the Lake District as a whole.

This will also give visitors a chance to see the Roman ruins up close, uncovering an often overlooked element of Cumbria's history.

Two walks in Windermere will follow Orrest Head, one of Alfred Wainwright’s favourite fells, and Brant Fell, which Adele describes as a 'hidden gem'.

The town of Kendal is also included, which starts at the Brewery Arts Centre, before visiting Castle Howe, the old Beast Banks post office, the Serpentine Woods, Kendal Fell and Kendal Golf Club.
