A BARROW man who was supervising a driver with a provisional licence admitted he was above the legal limit for benzoylecgonine.

Jake Watson, 27, of Hawcoat Lane, was in charge of an Audi A3 on the A590 at Arrad Foot with benzoylecgonine in his blood which exceeded the specified limit on January 15, a court heard.

The court heard he 'did not feel' he was under the influence and that he was not going to drive but had been persuaded to sit in the passenger seat and act as a supervisor. This therefore made him in charge of the vehicle.

The court heard he was unaware of this beforehand. He gave an early guilty plea and his 'full co-operation' with the police.

The magistrates gave Watson 10 points on his licence, which had been clean.
