A BRAVE baby boy has completed the three national peaks with his parents before his first birthday.

Boe Hartley, from Kendal, was taken up to Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales and Scafell Pike in the Lake District by his mum Kerry Harley and dad Adam Hartley.

The toddler was sat comfortably in a back carrier and his parents got him out on the way up on all the peaks.

The adventure took place in June and it was completed over a two-week period. Boe completed the three mountains in five days before turning one year old on July 1.

His dad Adam explained that doing this challenge with Boe was something they always wanted to do.

"We pushed it through to get it done before Boe was one. It is something I have done in the past on my own and with my dad so it was nice to do it with him as well," said Adam.

"Boe likes the motion so when we got him out at the top of all three he just got really happy.

"He only starts crying when we stop. He likes to be moving. it is the same in the car - if you stop he moans.

"He definitely prefers to be outside than inside - he is very content on the grass or in the woods."

Together, Boe and his dad have also done 67 of the 214 Wainwrights and the plan is to work through them.

When asked if Cumbria is a good place to raise a child, Adam said: "It is the best place. If you like the outdoors and nature it is the perfect place."

Adam said they do not know if Boe is the youngest boy to ever be on the top of the three national peaks.

The youngest child to ever do it physically was the five-year-old Seren Isla Price from Llangennech, Carmarthenshire, in Wales.

"We have emailed the National Three Peaks Organisation and they do not seem to have any record of it. There is no record of the actual youngest person who has been on the top of all three," said Adam.
