FOLK music fans can enjoy a feast of traditional tunes, songs, stories and dancing in Ulverston this weekend.

The Furness Tradition Folk Festival runs from July 12 to 14 with gigs, workshops and storytelling sessions taking place at the Coro and venues across the town.

The festival kicks off on Friday with an opening gathering at the Hope and Anchor pub on Daltongate and continues on Saturday with a variety of events including acoustic concerts at the Coro featuring Holly and the Reivers, the English Fiddle Ensemble and multi–BBC Folk Music Award winners Tim Edey and Ross Ainslie.

The Coro will also host special craft sessions, children’s stories with Dominic Kelly, a family fun afternoon and a special Big Merry Neet ceilidh with the Tumbling Tom Big Band.  The day also features traditional dancing demonstrations at Market Cross.

On Sunday the festival culminates in a special performance from Joe Broughton’s Birmingham Conservatoire Folk Ensemble which will see 50 top musicians fill the Coro stage.
