A popular pub in the heart of Ulverston will host an evening of epic boxing matches.

Personal trainer Jason Moore initially set up Titan Training during the Covid-19 Lockdown.

He started providing part-time personal training sessions and weekly boxing classes which grew into a thriving full-time business.

On Friday August 16, the Red Rose in Ulverston will feature bouts between fighters from the local boxing gym as well as from other clubs around the UK.

The pub, on Victoria Street, will welcome guest judges, a referee and a DJ to perform live while serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

The event will kick off at 5:30pm with some bouts between younger boxers followed by adult fights starting around 7:30pm.

Titan Training has now been open for over four years, providing one-on-one training as well as 12 weekly boxing classes for both men and women across a range of ages, even as young as five years old.

Jason has had a passion for boxing since childhood. He joind the boxing team during his time in the military and competed at numerous matches across the country - but his ultimate dream was always to become a boxing coach.

He said: “The people who attend our PT sessions and classes come from diverse backgrounds and span all ages, each bringing their unique personality. Seeing the growth and progress of our dedicated and hardworking members is very rewarding.”

The upcoming event will have an ‘exciting, fun and supportive environment’, said Jason. You should expect a ‘brilliant’ atmosphere as family members, friends, colleagues, and boxing enthusiasts come together to cheer on the boxers, he said.

Jason and his wife Amy coordinate the entire event, overseeing all training sessions to ensure fighters are well-prepared for the event, managing ticket sales and collaborating with local businesses.

Over the years, Titan Training has organised a number of boxing events including an all-female charity event to raise money for St. Mary’s Hospice.

Jason said this cause was close to his heart as his wife’s sister died from cancer. He said: “Our goal was not only to support this charity but also to bring the local community together and offer something unique. Since then, with the support of The Red Rose, we've continued hosting local boxing shows.”

Titan Training plans to continue growing and developing, with the next step being to gain affiliation to represent amateur boxers.

Jason said: “I have a deep passion for my work and feel incredibly fortunate that the gym has thrived. It's more than just a business to me; it feels like a family.

“We are really looking forward to the event, as are our boxers and the other participating gyms. The preparation leading up to the event is busy but witnessing the boxers deliver a brilliant performance makes it all worthwhile. Seeing their pride on the evening and having their loved ones there to support them adds a special touch to the occasion.”
