DRIVERS in and around south Cumbria will have 10 National Highways roadworks and delays to watch out for this week.

Two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes. 

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A590, from 9am June 3 to 5am July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Cross-A-Moor Roundabout Ulverston to Lindal In Furness, traffic signals for Renewal of Ulverston Weather Station.

• M6, from 8pm June 30 to 7pm July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 35 to 36, Lane three closures for multiple cyclic activities in centre reserve and asset inspections.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A590, from 9.30am July 9 to 3.30pm July 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 northbound, Canal street, traffic signals for BT works.

• A590, from 8pm July 15 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound, Cartmel Lane to Meathop Roundabout, Lane one closure for lighting works.

• A590, from 8pm July 15 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Greenodd Roundabout to Pennington Lane, traffic signals for lighting works.

• A590, from 7pm July 17 to 5am July 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Barr End Cottages to Greenodd Rbt, carriageway closure, lane two closure and traffic signals for Patching and road making/stud reinstatements.

• A590, from 7pm July 18 to 5am July 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Barr End Cottages to Greenodd Rbt, Lane two closure, traffic signals and ring management for Patching and road making/stud reinstatements.

• A590, from 7pm July 19 to 5am July 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Meathop Dual to Lindal Hill, Lane two closure, traffic signals and ring management for Patching and road making/stud reinstatements.

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on July 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 J36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on July 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 J36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
