The High Sheriff of Cumbria said a Cross Bay Walk fundraiser was a 'bucket list' moment to remember.
Chris Holmes organised the walk across Morecambe Bay to raise money for the High Sheriff’s Fund, the benefactor of his ongoing charitable efforts.
Numerous people got involved for a 'fantastic turnout' that saw participants trek from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands, battling weather conditions that were not the best.
Mr Holmes said: "It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and ticking off a bucket list adventure.
"A big thank you to all that supported this walk for the High Sheriff’s Charity Fund and a special thanks to Cumbria Community Foundation for their help in the organisation."
The walk was led by the royally-appointed King's Guide to the Sands Michael Wilson who helped those involved traverse the 'ever-changing flats and channels' as they took in the Bay’s renowned scenery and wildlife.
“It was a great honour to be appointed High Sheriff and I am keen to raise as much money as I can towards the High Sheriff’s Fund throughout my year in office, to support worthy causes across the county," Mr Holmes added.
The High Sheriff's Fund is administered by the Community Foundation, who also applauded those who took part on the day.
The fund's aims include tackling youth crime, supporting vulnerable older people, improving the health and wellbeing of Cumbrian communities, and supporting other charitable groups selected by the High Sheriff himself.
At the end of their year in office in March, the High Sheriff chooses projects and groups to receive a grant.
Earlier this year, 22 grants totalling £16,400 were awarded by the outgoing High Sheriff Samantha Scott, and three organisations also received the prestigious High Sheriff’s Shield – Eden Rivers Trust, Wigton Theatre Club and 1st Wetheral Brownies.
