A new TV series will be airing on Channel 5 next week all about Cumbria and the Lake District.

'Cumbria: The Lakes and Coast' is set to have five episodes with the first one debuting on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm.

Filmed across the summer last year, the series celebrates what the county has to offer, both new and old.

This comes with unique access to historic castles and ancient gardens, as well as introducing viewers to a range of characters - from steamboat operators to wild swimmers, local potters to gin distillers, a lobster fishing couple to divers uncovering history from the bed of Windermere.

Created by Air TV, executive producer Morland Sanders said: "This is an area that is home to England’s tallest mountains and deepest lakes, and we are really excited to be able to bring the beauty of this amazing county to Channel 5’s viewers.

"Our team knows this part of the world really well, so it’s great to be able to use that local knowledge and passion for the area as we make the series."

Shed One, a business based in Ulverston, will feature in one of the episodes as the distillery looks to show off a newly created gin at The Westmorland County Show.

The series was first announced in September 2023 and will also take viewers to the Cumbria Classic and Motorsport Show at Dalemain Mansion, near Penrith.

"Inland, England’s tallest mountains and deepest lakes are the backdrop to a stunning world where adventure tourism, sleepy villages and innovative local businesses thrive.

“We meet the Cumbrians preserving centuries-old practices and delivering unique experiences, all in one of Britain’s most stunning counties.”
