Lake District: The Coniston Inn shortlisted for dog-friendly award

Situated on the northern shores of Coniston Water, the Inn has made it to the final six.

In the spotlight for welcoming four-legged friends, The Coniston Inn is part of The Inn Collection Group and is popular among travellers with dogs.

It offers 15 dog-friendly bedrooms out of its total 44, the highest percentage across the group.

The inn boasts a traditional pub where patrons are welcomed with their pets, it offers a range of canine hospitality products sourced from Barrow-based business, Sir Woofchesters.

It also has a paddock beer garden which is securely fenced to allow for responsible off-lead exercising.

Other dog-friendly features include its woodland walk with a scent trail, and its dog stick library.

The contest's final shortlist is dominated by North West establishments, with four of the six entrants hailing from the region.

General manager Cindy Milburn said: "We're delighted to be short-listed as one of the best pubs for dogs in the UK.

"We are all dog-mad and enjoy welcoming our four-legged visitors as much as their owners.

"The setting for the pub couldn't be better for owners and their pooches, with plenty of space and a nice relaxing environment along with the usual extras that dog parents would expect at a pub from The Inn Collection Group.

”To make the pub even more dog friendly, we boosted the number of outdoor covers in response to feedback from guests and have enhanced the woodland walk by creating a scent trail of plants that stimulate dogs’ senses of smell.

“We’ve also invested in a dedicated fridge in response to the growing number of guests feeding their pets on raw dog food and in heavy-duty cleaning equipment to allow us to offer more rooms as dog-friendly.

“I’m proud of how dog-friendly the team make our inn and we’re all excited for the finals.”
