CUMBRIANS can now find out if they live near a banned dog breed that has killed people in recent years.
The government banned XL Bully dogs earlier this year because of a 'concerning rise in attacks from these dangerous dogs.' The government said that 'many' of the 23 deaths from dangerous dog attacks in the previous three years (as of December 31) involved XL Bullies.
A Freedom of Information request done by national newspaper The Spectator has now revealed the number of XL Bullies per postcode after owners were required by law to register their animals.
Here are the top Cumbrian postcodes ranked in order:
- LA14, Barrow-in-Furness, Walney Island: 94 approved applications
- CA2, Carlisle South West: 45 approved applications
- CA14, Workington, Distington, Seaton: 35 approved applications
