Kendal Pride's second annual celebration pulled hundreds of people onto its streets this weekend, despite the wet weather.

The event, which took place from June 14 to 16, boasted an array of activities for all ages and was hosted at various venues around town.

This included the Pride Village which, for the first time, was located at Abbot Hall, treating visitors to a range of stalls and free riverside activities.

Jamie Hooper, chair of the organising group, said: “The weekend has been absolutely wonderful and we’re thrilled that so many people turned out in the authentic Cumbrian weather to celebrate pride together.

“Kendal Pride is a thoroughly Lakeland affair and we really leaned into our ‘pride done differently’ ethos with loads of outdoor events, and wrapping up in their waterproofs and celebrating together.

“We had a fantastic team of volunteers, performers and stallholders and we’re already looking forward to 2025.”

The festival's programme was enlivened with performances by Bossyking, drag king Andi Blewitt, and drag queens Nova Gina, Patty Dale, and Ruby Sinclair, alongside zumba and yoga sessions.

Attendees also witnessed an early evening finale featuring students from Kendal College.

Pet owners got involved by bringing their dogs for a special 'proud pooches' dog show in collaboration with Animal Rescue Cumbria.

The week also saw the publication of a book featuring ten stories from LGBTQIA+ people from the local community, with an exhibition which will be showcased at the No-Hands Rest coffee bar until the end of the month.
