A sink hole that has opened up in Ambleside was cordoned off this morning (June 3).
Crews from Westmorland and Furness Council attended Church Street at around 10am to cover that section of road.
The road is still reported to still be accessible.
A post on the council's Facebook page said: "The area are been made safe and we are assessing the cause to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
"For the safety of all road users, temporary traffic lights may be required. The route is accessible, however we kindly encourage you to avoid the area where possible to reduce disruptions."
