The St John's Hospice's Kendal Colour Dash made a colourful return on Sunday, raising nearly £20,000 for the charity.

The vibrant paint-soaked fun run saw around 650 'dashers’ make their way through the 5km course at Kirkbie Kendal School, each coming out splashed with various hues of powdered paint.

Firms including Castle Green Hotel, Kendal Leisure Centre, Hackney & Leigh, Westmorland Homecare, and Turner Scott Lettings sponsored the event, and even supplied volunteers to get the paint powder flying.

Herdy once again sponsored the medals, adorning them with their famous sheep on the lanyards.

Much of the ticket price goes towards the cost of putting on the event.

Colour dashers are encouraged to get sponsored for their run, with the funds raised going towards the hospice.

Lily Knight, a fundraiser at St John’s Hospice, said: "I want to thank everyone who came along to this year’s Kendal Colour Dash – we hope you had as much fun as we did!

"There was an amazing atmosphere on this beautiful, sunny day.

"All the money raised today will go towards patient care, supporting our work at St John’s Hospice and out in the community, across North Lancashire, the South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire, all the way up to Grasmere!

"Everyone who joined us today, sponsored a runner, or volunteered, has helped our vital work to continue, as well as our generous sponsors.

"You’re all amazing!"

The Kendal Colour Dash will run again next year, but in the meantime, more St John’s Hospice events can be found at sjhospice.org.uk/events.
