The first steps are being made on a seven-year-old girl's request for a bat-friendly nature reserve in Kendal.
Molly Severn, a pupil at Vicarage Park Primary School, penned a letter to the mayor about creating a bat sanctuary.
Cllr Julia Dunlop has since arranged for a bat box to be purchased and has invited the nature enthusiast along to see it.
The new addition to the Kendal community is expected to be installed at one of Kendal Town Council’s allotment sites.
In a statement, the mayor said: "It’s always important to listen to good ideas and to help make them a reality.
"I congratulate Molly’s initiative."
