KENDAL will be hotter than Barcelona this weekend, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office.
A spell of hot weather will hit the UK with temperatures forecast to hit 22 degrees Celsius in Kendal on Saturday and 21 on Sunday. Barcelona, the Catalan capital on the Mediterranean which is home to Sagrada Familia and Las Ramblas, will be a degree cooler over the weekend.
The meteorologists pinned this hot spell on a wave of high pressure bringing dry weather and 'plenty of warm sunshine' to the northwest, with many places hotter than holiday destinations in southern Europe.
Both Windermere and Kendal will be warmer, and drier, than Heraklion in Crete.
The Greek city will experience wet weather on Saturday, with temperatures staying in the high teens.
Windermere will hit 20 degrees over the weekend before wetter and cooler weather returns to the region on Monday.
